Radiation therapy for infants with cancer

The clinical outcomes for infants with malignant tumors are often worse than older children due to a combination of more biologically aggressive disease in some cases, and increased toxicity-or deintensification therapies concern toxicity-in others. Especially very young children, finding the appropriate balance between maximizing treatment efficacy while minimizing particular late side effects-is crucial. We review here management focusing on central nervous system (CNS) malignancies rhabdomyosarcoma.
